What the hell’s a low bar back squat?
Jan 23
Seriously, this is a weightlifting blog. What in Santa’s wet anus is a low bar back squat? You might as well be doing crossfit, trx or p90x if you think a low bar back squat’s good for a weightlifter. Leave that amazement stuff (I’m actually extremely aware of the grammatical error, don’t worry) to the powerlifters. They know what they’re doing with it. You stick to a straight torso back squat.
Stupid little geese y’all trying to follow the crowd.

Exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cheers mate.
Careful,
you might begin to lose credibility with your audience if you start simply posting your opinions, flat, without giving a reasonable amount supporting evidence, reasoning, and following discussion.
And also it makes the posts less interesting.
“The sky is blue!”
- So? What’s your point?
“The sky is blue because… (detailed, insightful, and originally-presented explanation/hypothesis)”
- Now that’s interesting! This is a great blog!
Luc you misunderstand. I’m not running this blog for any monetary or attention purpose. I’m just giving an alternative to the methods that’s failed numerous people for years. If people are going to be turned off when their ideals are not met, so be it especially since this is just something I do on the sides. People just gotta be chilled and not sit so high on that white prancing pony.
Right.
I never meant to insinuate that you’re out for profit or anything. But I did assume that you’d rather that your posts seem interesting.
I see that you’ve followed up the teaser post with a more in-depth, full-length piece that I’m really looking forward to reading in about 30 seconds here.
I see what you did… you posted a little teaser to whet our appetites and get us thinking, before giving us the full meal.
Well done.
Ha ha ha, guess you have been seen the posts between Pendlay, Riptoe and Everett then? I agree, LBBS is for powerlifters! Bar is closer to CoM therefore theoritcally reducing the length of the lever, allowing more force to be exterted resulting in more weight being able to be lifted… BUT at the cost of the torso angle which is completely unrelated to weightlifting and helps very little indeed!
There is an article somewhere about how people get carried away with squats, assuming it will assist numbers in the Clean and Snatch. If you get good at squat, you will lift a lot in the squat. If you get better in the clean or snatch, then you will get better in the clean and snatch
