ABOUT ME.

History

I was never the athletic kid while in primary school. Always feeling rather fat and lazy, I’d rather walk than run, sit than walk, sleep than play, and eat than sleep. No I wasn’t always the guy that could squat your heaviest friend. There was a time, when I was a pretty weak fellow. And tubby. So I was lazy, fat and tired.

How I started

My curiosity in training started, when I was about 6. Seeing my dad perform push-ups was such an amazing feat, considering how running was already tough for me.

Initially, burying that interest, but occasionally doing push-ups when I saw my dad doing it, I built a relatively stronger upper body by 12. At 13, when I entered high school, I started to dabble in “taekwondo”, basketball, softball. By 15, I was lifting weights, against the advice of my school teachers saying I would get short.

Though I did all the sports, I was curiously interested in lifting weights, not because it was going to get me to look fit. Rather, every single time my bench press and leg presses went up, my kicks were harder, my strikes were stronger; the 3-point line became “shorter”.

Above all, my fat melted away. I wasn’t as chubby as I was when I entered school. My dad calls that puberty. I call that, “COOL!!

In university, I started doing bodybuilding, and then moved to powerlifting and eventually weightlifting. Upon further studying of these three sports, I got my answer to what happened. Weight training helped to develop muscle. Muscle helped me to move. However, with speed and heavy lifting, I further built strength and power which was transferred to my daily activities such as running and climbing up stairs. I was more agile.

And I definitely enjoyed that feeling.

Goals

My goals are to help develop people out there, the general population to be better, physically. I use methods designed for athletes, to train normal people. Now one must think for a moment. What is defined by, training like the average person? What results will one achieve by training like the average person? Average results.

I never stepped foot on the Olympic stage, World championship stage, and unfortunately, not even the Asian competition stage. It’s unlikely that I’ll ever step on the world stage, especially considering the other dedications I have in life like work, but I’ll continue to get stronger and faster in order to get a place in at least the Commonwealth Games.

I’ve also a goal to put a few lifters up there, in the world stage and the Olympic stage, so if I manage to find kids who have the potential, and  parents would allow me to develop their child (no, it does NOT stunt your growth), that’d be the greatest thing. If you can’t get there, why not help someone else get there and share that feeling. That’s pretty good too.
